bought a mated queen to put in ob hive to replace a virgin they raised with a bad wing. Hive was pretty rough on this new girl for 2-3 days, although she now seems to have major acceptance. She has just been sitting around quietly letting everyone pamper her for last 2-3 days.Shouldnt she be laying by now ??Dont know if shes just trying to recover from harsh treatment during first couple of days or what! brood has all been emerged for 4-5 days although numbers in hive are still pretty high.Thought about trying to figure out way to get more brood in there to see if that would help get her going. what do you think???

Sometimes it takes a while for an new queen to get up to speed. I've had them do nothing that I could see for two weeks and then turn out to be queens that could lay up 11 or twelve frames. I've also had them start out gangbusters and never get above four or five frames of brood. Anymore I wait at least three weeks before I even look to see if she is laying. When I do look I always consider how many bees she has to cover her brood. In an observation hive she probably can't get too big a cluster.
