Tainted Honey

I mentioned earlier about finding plastic strips in a hive with a shallow super above. I was advised not to use it, and feed it to the bees. I have had the shallow hive body in place all summer, and am now feeding a 1/1 syrup to help them draw out the foundation. What do i need to do to get them to use it, it is full? I've also read to remove the shallow before treating for mites, which i need to do now.

If you uncap it and put it above the inner cover they may empty it and move it down to the brood chamber. If not, you can uncap it and put it out in the open and they will empty it pretty quickly.
