I have about 50 frames I plan on starting this weekend (newbie). What's the most efficient way to remove the wedge from the top bar before inserting the foundation in? Was wondering if individuals just use a util knife or other tool to remove the wedge.

I just grab and pull them out. You could
use a utility knife I suppose for a nice
clean look.

Actually I have never removed the wedge. It sounded like a lot of tedious work. Instead, I just bend (flex) the foundation to insert it. This works even when I use the metal edges foundation with the plastic center.

The wedge is nice when removed to press into
the foundation prior to stapling. Especially
with wired foundation with hooks. It really
give the sheet good support prior to it
being drawn out. Unless you're going to run
a wax bead of course.

You can also flip the wedge to create a lip
for foundation less frames.

I break it out, then take a box cutter and clean up what is left so the wedge is flat when it is put back.

I leave the wedge on and wax the foundation in the groove.
