I had a couple of hives with serious SHB issues last year, and subsequent wax moth damage. The advice I got was to freeze them and put them back in other hives, that the bees would "clean them up". Well, the bees did "clean them up", thoroughly, but they aren't interested in re-drawing the uneven combs, even in hives that are packed with bees and these are the only open frames left. Should I give this more time or pull the frames and replace the foundation?
Is it too late in the season to expect new foundation to be drawn out? Can drawing of foundation be successfully encouraged by feeding syrup now? Would I be better off to reduce the size of the chamber with FB and wait til spring to introduce new foundation?
As always, thanks for your insight and opinions.
