Went all through the hive today, no eggs, no brood, no queen. Nothing! What now?

Okay I called my bee guy he has a queen for me. I will be picking it up at 3pm today. Should I put her in today even though I opened the hive once today already? They must have been with out a queen for a while because the last evidence of her was hatching drones 2 days ago.

There's no reason you can't put the queen right in the hive as long as your sure the old queen is gone, and there isn't another one that hasn't started laying yet. When I put in a queen, I don't pull any of the plugs for a couple days, then I will pull the candy end plug, and let them release her. Takes alittle bit longer, but acceptance is better.

She is in. The bees were all over her cage. She was hard to put in. I hope it works out.
Thanks
Were the bees biting the cage/trying to sting her? If not, then there shouldn't be any problem.
Kinda neat how the bees just flow out of everywhere to the queen isn't it?

I hope you left her in the cage and didn't release her immediately. If you did release her immediately, that may be it for her.

I have released queens when I thought the workers were "playing nice" and had them ball her, I promptly caught her up and put her back in the cage. So to err on the side of caution I would let them release her.

I looked at the hive this morning and it seemed like its old self many bees leaving and some pollen being brought back in. Bees were still all over the queen cage, hopefully they are feeding her. There are some bees working the candy plug pretty hard. When I check the bees a few minutes ago things seemed slow again, it is very hot and humid here though.
