Hows it going guys, have any of you read the book "honey plants of north america" by John H. Lovell? it looks like an interesting book to have on hand.

Yes, I have the book. I recomend the book, beekeepers should learn what thier bees are foraging or may forage.

I also have the book and recommend it. Before I started beekeeping, I was oblivious to any plants except those that I had to cut. ;) Now I find my self scanning the roadways and waste areas for honey plants, and run home to look up any I can't identify. A great reference for all beekeepers.

It's a good reference but some of the nomenclature and wording is dated. It's the reprint of the 1926 edition. According to Lovell 70% of the surplus honey is produced by four plants. "The four most important honey plants in the United States are sweet clover, alfalfa, white clover, and alsike clover." p. 8
