My latest venture into the depths of my hives landed me two stings. One of which really got me thinking, How far can a bee actually sting? I was stung through the arm of the glove, which is no big deal, but I was wearing a suit that is much thicker than a standard bee suit. Any experiences anyone care to share?

I've been stung through leather gloves several times. I've been stung through blue jeans several times. The leather was the thickest that I've been stung through. Seems like that bee worked and worked until the stinger got all the way through. Usually on a knuckle or somwhere where the leather is streatched a bit.

I once watched a bee try to sting through my glove. She buzzed her wings for extra force and really worked at it. I eventually felt a light prickle, so I tossed her off.

Fortunately, she didn't come back for another go at me.

Luckily the leather on my gloves is still in great condition, as I pick off atleast 10 stingers from them every time I get into my mean hive. And no, it's not because I'm rough in handling them, no problems with any other hives. Oh well, the queen is nearing her end...
