Where can I get oxalic acid and how is it applied? Is the effectivity of the treatment temperature dependent?

I'm sure I've seen the answer to this question but ran a search and couldn't find a clear answer.

Thanks

I have no problems finding Oxalic acid at the local hardware store in the paint section as wood bleach.

Michael -

When using the hardware store stuff - how, when, how much, for how long?

Thanks,
Paul

I used Topbarguy's evaporator. The one that goes in the top.

>when

I did it in the fall after brood rearing. Then again a week later. I did it once in the early spring on a warm day, before brood rearing.

>how much

I used one cap full of the oxalic. I weight it on a scale at the time, but don't remember now exactly what it came to, but if you search on Oxalic Acid, I'm sure you find some discussions on it.

>for how long?

I go until it's all evaporated. With some practice you can figure out how long that is, but the "smoke" leaking out around the threads and the boxes help as an indicator.

I believe it is one gram per deep hive body or the equivilant.
