Hello.

I beleave I managed to get one of the swarms that where in the yard. The hive body filled with frames has bees going in and out of the entrance, constantly. I don't see the bees heading to the other hive in the wall of the house, so, its not being robed by them at lest. I may have managed to hive one of the swarms. If someone wants to come out and check for me, I would be greatfull. I am going to Dadant tomarrow to pick up a bee suit, and some safty equipment. Then, this weekend, I will set the hive up properly out back, instead of it sitting on a board in the yard to attract the swarm in.

Was this an established hive you had to cut out of a wall, or a swarm on a bush or tree? Either way, welcome to the world of beekeeping!

This was a swarm on a tree. I still have to cut the hive out of the wall. Thats going to be a joy. Still got one more swarm in a tree in the yard. Its about chest hight or so, and around the size of a football, to large softball.

Michael, Be sure to get a SMOKER and learn how to keep it burning. Smoke the bees before you go into the wall and let them fill up on honey and then resmoke them any time they start to get restless. Smoke helps to calm them and keeps their mind off you. Also a Bee Vac would be helpful if you could borrow one. Plans are on Beesource.com under build it Dale in S.E. Ks
