help queen cells

How long aftering installing capped queen cells hould i check for eggs. Also where is the queen this time of year.Checked 25 hives today capped brood but no eggs and saw no queens.Is she in the bottom of hive.

The queen, if the weather is right, will be laying, 10 days after emerging. I would wait 2 weeks after you put in the cells since I do not know how old they were when you put them in. It takes 5 - 8 days after emergence before the queen goes on her mateing flight. Then another 3-4 days before she lays.

I wouldn't expect to find eggs until two weeks after emergence. In a two medium frame mating nuc I have trouble finding a newly mated queen. They are quite shy.

As to where to find the queen, she might be anywhere to start with, but usually somewhere there is brood. But if you smoke them at all with a new flighty queen, she could be on the bottom board, or out on the landing board or anywhere else you can imagine.
