The city brout me a 10-foot section of a huge old maple with bees in it. It had been dropped from about 12 feet, and has been on its side. Pretty heavy flight today. I don't have tackle that'll haul it upright or a chainsaw that'll let me buck it down to size, so I made a nuc box and am tryin to cone-trap foragers out, then I'll try to cut in tomorrow and get comb and queen if she survives. The nuc has a frame of comb and one of honey and three empty frames (I don't have any foundation).

Am I going aboui this all wrong? Any tips for a first-timer on a removal?

Breath slow and deep. Take your time. Don't be afraid to walk away for a while while you and them calm down. smile.gif Make sure you have a bucket with a lid for the honey and plenty of boxes and frames and string or rubber bands for the cut out. Brush the bees off into the new box as you work. Put the combs of brood in the new box as you work. The queen will probably be in a cluster somewhere as you get to the end of the cut out. Brush them gently into the box.

Your forecast is for a high of 54 tommorrow. Wait until the temp. is in the 60's, at least.
