A little background. My buddy and I purchased 3 established hives this year, our first.
Earlier a friend split one of the hives and made a nuc which we introduced a new queen.
Today upon inspection we found one of the hives to be queenless. No eggs anywhere to let them grow there own.
This hive is two deep for brood and has two supers on it.
Being that the hive is four boxes high, can we do a newspaper combine by just adding the nuc above? We can use hive sized plywood with a nuc sized hole to sit it on.
Or are we better off just taking some eggs from another hive and letting them grow their own?
Thank you
