Can I combine a hive w/no Queen with a hive w/a Queen?????? Should I try the newspaper trick (single sheet between the two)? Or should I just try and requeen the one?

You should pick up a copy of Beekeeping for Dummys, I have found it very easy to navigate through, especially when you need an answer fast. I don't have my copy with me or i would quote what it says to you. Sorry. good luck.

It all depends on if you want to end up with two small hives or one large one.

What I'm hoping for is a good production hive that is happy http://www.beesource.com/ubb/confused.gif

Either adding a queen to the queenless one or combining with a queenright one will work fine. The bees will be happy either way and they will be productive either way. The one hive will be a bit stronger a bit faster, but two queens laying make a few more bees in the same amount of time. It still depends on if you want to end up with one or two hives when you're done.
