I am assembling some hive bodies, and have Gorilla glue, but I figured I would ask since gluing is not something you can un-do once it is done!
Would elmers wood glue hold up in outdoor environs?

you have to make sure it says it's exterior glue on the bottle
I use TightBondII
I think elmers makes some that are exterior and some that aren't

TightBond II is the only thing I use. It slower than some others to set which gives me time to make adjustments and get everything square. I've never had a joint come lose after its dry. The wood breaks before the glue fails.

I use Gorilla as well.
You question is a good one and I have been thinking about discontinueing using glue on boxes.
Rather than glue I'll power nail as usual and deck screw the top and bottom corners. This way I can repair them down the road.
I will still use Gorilla Glue on frames though.

I used wood glue last year...this year I am using the Gorilla Glue and I like it cause it swells to fill spaces.
It's come in quite handy to fix those 'opps' moments while assembling frames.

I buy the EXTERIOR wood glue. Either Elmers or Titebond. There is also Elmers wood glue that is not exterior. I would NOT use that.

I bought Titebond III says it is water proof. So far so good.

Titebond III is the way to go. they did a test with it -glued up a board let it dry, then soaked it in water for a day, then boiled it in water for an hour, and let it dry and it broke the board not the glue joint. 'Good stuff in my opinion.

I use Elmer's Professional Carpenter's wood glue. I am using some of the same frames that I used to use almost 20 years ago, during my first round of keeping bees (the frames were used for 5 years, then stored for about 15 years). These frames were never nailed, only glued, and feel as tight and strong as ever.

Forgot to mention that I use the same glue on the hive bodies. Some of them I forgot to nail; they, too, have never come apart.

I've always used tightbond II (and staples). I sort of figure unless the bees learn to swim underwater I'm going to have bigger problems if I really need tightbond III.
One thing I may use III for is that it had a lower required temperature for use. That could help if I need to assemble things over the winter in my garage. (Has some heat with a woodburner, but it's not great).
