Hiya,

I am sure someones gotta be sick and tired of me by now! But, I have hived one of the swarms. I took the top cover off and took a look inside, other than a few bees coming out and flying around, there was no problem. If I had been calmer, I probly could have done it without a veil. There is one more swarm in a tree, the tree is about 10 feet from the hive, and the swarm is about 20 feet up. I am not worried about the swarm, its small, and is probly an afterswarm. Anyways, and this is probly no big accomplishment, but, I did it, I opened the hive, without panicing, without freaking out or anything. I even had bees flying around me! I was scared half to death, but, I did it! I did not want to mess with them a whole lot, and, I still have to move them to there permanant location. I have made arangements to get the parts for 2 compleat hives, so that I will be better prepaired the next time.
I do apologize if I have been overchewing everyones ears, but, I have few other places to talk about this sorta thing.

Micheal, Wait till after dark, screen the entrance, put a strap around the complete hive so it doesn't coma apart on you and move to the permanant location. Open the entrance and they will be fine in the morning.

As far as the smoker fuel goes you can use cotton rags, pine straw, burlap, grass, seed heads from Shumackor some people use coragated card board. Keep us posted. Dale
