Was looking in my hives today and heard a funny sound then seen where it was coming from. And the new queen was piping to the other queen that hasnt hatched yet. But it wasnt long till she came out and the fight was on if you havent seen it it is AWESOME. Only downside is 1 had to die and the victor was prancing around like she had won the world heavyweight title. Just wish i had my video camera. I was in shock for about what seemed like 5 min but it was over in about 30 to 40 seconds. Didnt even have time to place my bets. :D :D :D :D :D :D

when one is waiting on the other to emerge, can you just snatch up the one, and place the virgin queen with several frames of brood/pollen/food, so as to start a nuc before they go to fist o cuffs?

I would say you could, but it happened so fast i couldnt do anything but watch. Then you would have 2 nucs cause youll be splitting your hive in half.

the frames of pollen/food/brood don't necessarily have to come from that hive.

I've watched two queens in the observation hive fight a little and wander off and fight a little and wander off for 8 or 9 hours. I finally gave up and went to bed.

>Piping?

A noise from a queen. Kind of sounds like "zoooot zoooot zoooot". When they are still in the cell it sounds sort of like "quaaaaaak quaaaaaak quaaaaak"
