I lost a hive to SHB, well not completely lost everything, managed to save {I hope} some honey and pollen and drawn comb before the beetle larva got into 100% of it. 3 supers worth. I put them into the freezer to kill what was left of the larva and any eggs. After freezing them if I place them on my other hives will the bees clean them up? And salvage what is left?

Sorry for the loss...... From what I have read here and elsewhere freezing will do them in. And yes you can feed them back to other colonies.

There is a product you may already be aware of for SHB called GaurdStar for ground drenching around affected colonies.

Here is a nice information site.....

I've only lost a very small nuc to SHB, so I don't know how what I'm going to tell you generalizes to a much larger number of affected frames. What I did was to first freeze all frames for three days. Then allow everything to come back to room temp. Next, I flushed the nasty goo with straight water in an attempt to eliminate anything that the bees would find objectionable. I then stuck them into a strong hive. Seemed to work for me.

Good luck. Keep your hives strong!
