Anyone have any idea about the impact of temperature swings on bees? Our low this morning was around 55F, the high today will probably be 98F. In more temperate areas of the country the swing may only be 10 or 20 degrees. Any speculation on how the bees react?

Bees are very adaptive. That is a heck of a swing!

coyote--that sounds like Pennsylvania weather the last few days. The cooler weather sure stopped the bearding on the front of the hives though.

Actually, now that I think of it, in Laramie we had days like that. I had Buckfasts at the time. They did fine.

They did fineRats. I was looking for something to blame for my failing hives.

Blame it on their race...
If you have Italians, well, you should have had Russians.
If you have Russians, then you should have had Carniolans...

Have similar temperature swings here. (50 to 85) My bees are slow to get started in the mornings when the nights get that cool.
