I was looking to buy a couple of beekeeping books such as, "The Hive and the Honeybee", and, "the New Comb Honey Book" or something similar. The online suppliers have decent prices but shipping is usually around $10 or more and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to get these books more cheaply. The used bookstores around here seldom have anything available.
(You know, Michael Bush DID type in "Better Queens" by Jay Smith . . . how long would it take to type in "The Hive and the Honeybee"? smile.gif

Try the online book store on the Bee Culture website. They were having a sale on books and the price includes domestic shipping. Don't know how many titles they have left. I ordered several in January.

Thanks, Garry. That makes a BIG difference in the price!

Another source is Amazon.com. This is the 2nd year I've ordered The Beekeepers Handbook for our local bee school from them. The base price was cheaper than the usual bee suppliers and by choosing the free shipping I saved even more. We ordered our copies of Honey Bee Diseases and Pests from Walter Kelley and they arrived within 4 days. Great service.

You can also try:

http://www.addall.com/Used/

which is a web site that searches many used book web sites, including Alibris, Abebooks, Bibliofind, Amazon, Half.com, and more. They also have a "new" book search. With books, shipping is typically $3.50 for a hardcover.

I have a high-speed scanner. If a book's copyright has expired, I can copy it for this site. Let me know.

Try Larry Connor (ljconnor@aol.com).
He deals in old and used beekeeping books.

Also, try http://www.ABEbooks.com, a website where many used book dealers post their
books.

Both Bibliofind.com and abebooks.com have the two books--each for $20 or under with shipping at $3.50.
