caring for hard rubber extractors

Hi,
I bought a used Root bee extractor made from hard rubber it is quite old . Is there anyway that I can put something on it to preserve the rubber from getting brittle or cracking. It is is good shape and would like to keep it like that if possible. Thank you

How about food grade lubricating grease or silicone? It is sold by many of the beekeeping supply outfits.

Found some sold by Dadant and sons , buying some today. I know how hard rubber becomes brittle , would like to see this extractor last awhile.
