I have two hives, one is Italian the other is carniolan.I noticed the italins are starting to take on a carnolian appearence.Possibly, a new italian queen mated with a carniolan drone. The hives are next to each other.Has anyone ever experienced this & does this change there temperament.

it could be that the queen is laying eggs that's being fertilized from a different drone that she mated with, remember the queen will mate with multiple drones, not all will produce the same markings

All the Italian Carni crosses I've had have been wonderful temprament and great producers.

Yeah some of my bees are nearly black. Mating with the local black feral drones... no doubt
