I'd like to raise some wax-moth larvae for fish-bait. My grandaddy used to keep an old hive body full of scrap frames just for that purpose. Fortunately, I have no wax moths, nor do I have any old combs to use to attract some. Kelly's book has an article about raising these critters, but I don't quite understand where I'm supposed to get wax-moth eggs to hatch and feed on cornmeal, etc.

You can get wax moth larvae from the bait shop. If you want eggs, you have to let the wax moths lay in the food. Comb with pollen and some honey in it works well. Wet supers work all right too. I've never had any problems getting them. Avoiding them is the hard part. But without used combs, I don't know what you'd do.
