on two of my hives I've found queen cells. I plan on spliting them, but have no nuc boxes.my plan was dividing everything up. Putting the old queen in a new box (deep)and leaving the old hive with the queen cell or cells.
Is it ok to fill the hives the rest of the way up with foundation? because thats all I have for deeps.
Another curve, the hives that I'm splitting are on plasti cell .I only have wax foundation .Iknow that you're not supposed to mix them, but if the plasti cell is already drawn and in use ,will it matter if I replace what I took out with wax?
If this Is alright I'll continue as suggested in the forum on placing them facing each other then switching them after about a week.

Of course.

It's not problem mixing them when they are drawn. As long as all the undrawn comb is the same. They won't drawn the plastic (undrawn) if there is wax (undrawn).

Not one bit.

Well I did one split. Put the old Queen and three frames of brood and two of honey, hope it turns out alright.
The first hive I opened, I didn't go through with it. I couldn't find the old Queen. I did find that the cells had the tops off and nothing in them. I went through the box twice no queen, and very, very little brood ,capped or uncapped.
Did they already swarm? If they did, hardly any bees went with her. It's still full.
How many days should I wait to check for brood again?
