I extracted my honey a few weeks ago but a friend of mine decided to hold off until the end of August.
Meanwhile I am going to treat my hives with oxalic acid this weekend and she wants me to treat her hives while I'm at it. I think she should wait until all her honey has been extracted.
If you are using the vaporizer I personally don't think it hurts the honey taste nor is it bad for you from what I hvae read.
The main thing is to treat when there isn't any capped brood, or as little as possible. Unlikely to have that this early unless they have totally shut down in a dearth.
But if the hive is really in big trouble with the mites you could knock them down now. I like to wait until towards the end of November, after the asters are done and they are no longer rearing brood.
Thanks for the reply. I'm using pads that are laid across the top of the upper brood box and will treat again in 7-10 days. That should take care of any brood and cells that were capped during the first treatment and which should be hatched out and open again.

If you have Formic Acid pads, for example Mite-Away II, you need to treat with the honey supers off.
Better to wait and be certain of what you have before you treat with the supers on.
