Hi All,

When is right time to put on a propolis trap? I read somewhere, it should be in the fall. Any other things I should know about with these traps?

Thanks

You can put it on now.
In the fall they seem to fill it faster.

I haven't seen plans. I think the plastic ones are the nicest. Imagine a punched plastic queen excluder but with holes too small for the bees so they propolize it instead. You roll it up and put it in a plastic bag in the freezer and when you unwrap it all the propolis falls off.

If you relly want to build one you could use #8 hardware cloth, but it will tear up a plastic bag. But the bees will propolize it.

I am confused on where to put it? Won;t the trap block ventillation through the inner cover?

Thanks

Zeebee don’t be confused, the bees know how much space they need for the ventilation and they holding some space open in your propolis trap.
