hello-first time user here, and any suggestions are greatly appriciated.
I have a 4 week old colony of Italians that from all appearance are doing great. No weak bees-good amounts of pollen stored-brood looks fine -closely packed.6 frames completely drawn out-did take 1 frame out and place in another hive to envigorate a new colony of pakaged bees last week. The only thing that has reaised concern is the occasional smell of bread or yeast that comes from hive # 1.There is a couple of dark spots on the bottom board -which is cypress wood that looks to be mildew stains, but i dont see any raised spores-enough to be concerned.Any thoughts ? I have not noticed the same odor from hive #2 which has a pine bottom board.
