Has anyone performed a 24-hr drop test this spring?
How many mites did you find?
Thanks

I know you mean normal drop, but I did one after an oxalic acid treatment. http://www.beesource.com/ubb/smile.gif Most hives were none. Several were one and one was 29. I checked that one (the one with 29) again yesterday and there were aproximately 30 again over the last several days, on that hive (probably from residual effects of Oxalic acid). I treated that one again yesterday.
I suppose I should work at getting that hive totally regressed. It still has a lot of regular comb in it that I didn't get swapped out for the wax dipped PermaComb yet. That's the only thing that is any different about it, other than possibly the queen, but she is a russian from the same breeder as several of the other hives.

I take readings on seven day intervals, I have more to look at that way.
Seriously, I only get to the yard once a week.
I see mites, but I expect to as I haven't used chemicals for a year now. Some have very few and some have quite a few. The main consideration is that all the hives are very strong and dealing with the mite load.

I just started fogging. I am getting 6-8 mites in a 24 hr period. They are due for another treatment this weekend.
