Clear bee

Have a worker bee that is clear--you can see the insides of the bee. Anyone else ever see one of these? It has been alive for at least two days but not too active, don't know what happened. Showed it to one of my sons today so I am not imagining things!

Some newly emerged bees are pretty white, fuzzy and transparent for the first day.

My entomology prof in college showed us a newly molted roach that he had pinned down under a microscope. When bottom lit, you could see everything inside with perfect clarity. It was amazing to see the dorsal heart(s) pumping the hemoceal along its length.

I can't remember if hone bees molt once they emerge, I would imagine they do, but I think they molt while pupae and emerge at their final size. You probably are looking at a newly molted honey bee whose exoskeleton hasn't solidified or a prematurly emerged adult.

What an oportunity for learning though!!
