Grease patties in single boxes....

I have several swarms that I have caugth this spring. They are small enough that I have each in a single deep, 10 frame box. If I want to use grease patties in them for mites, where should I put it? Most stuff I can find talks about putting the patty between the frames in the top and bottom box of a two box hive....

Should I make hogdog shaped wads rather than hamburgers? smile.gif

I just make hamburger like patties between wax paper and lay them on top of the frames of the brood box! Have not used them this year so far to see if there is any difference. Hope this helps.

Just make a hamburger shaped pattie and lay it across the top bars above the area where they have brood. Make sure you don't block the opening in the inner cover though.
When you add another box, continue to replenish the patties in the same place... on the top bars between the two boxes.
