A few of my frames must not have had the wire fully crimped into the wax foundation, since there is a perfect line of empy cells running through capped brood. Held up to the light, you can see the line follows the support wire.
How does the queen know not to lay there? Or, does she lay there and the eggs die off?

She inspects each cell before laying in it. Some queens can also be more finicky than others.

Most queens will not lay in cells intersected with wire..... no worry.

This is normal in new foundation. Somehow she knows not to lay in these cells. You will find that after a couple of brood cycles she should begin to lay in these cells too

That's one of the things I don't like about the wire...
