Subject: Drone eviction

I was doing one of my favorite past times a while ago (setting
and staring into the entrance of a beehive), and watched as a worker
bee drug a not so happy drone from his abode and pitched him to the
ground. He staggered around for a few minutes and then died. It was at
that time that I noticed a rather good sized drone graveyard in front
of the hive. I know the drones are driven out each fall, but do the
workers actually sting them to death as they remove them?I didn't
notice this before.
