Dave,
Before the experiment was done,
and bees were selected for the "hygienic"
trait using the pin-kill method, the hives were not 85-95% mite
free. This
is a fact, whether we understand all the parameters involved
or not.
I am not trying to be a Guru of selecting bees for hygienic behavior
to
control mites...but I do see this method working, and providing
OTHER ways
to help beekeepers with Queen breeding programs to control the
mite problem
without chemicals (and devastating their income by having to
change over to
4.9 cells).
