Hi all,

someone tell me a "kitchen" method for rendering cappings
wax.
Use a crock pot as large as
you can find with an adjustable temp. control.
Take wax capings that are well drained place in 5 gallon pails
and cover
with water to rinse. Use a strainer to scoop wax into crock pot.
Melt wax
on medium to low heat. Use a ladle to strain wax into 1/2 gallon
milk
containers (clean) with tops cut off. To strain use cheese cloth
(butter
muslin is better, I have dairy goats so I always have some for
cheese
making) or nylon material. These 3-4 pound blocks are ideal for
candle
making on a small scale. Keep crock pot in continuous use until
done. Don't
boil the wax! The good point to this method is that it is hard
to burn the
house down. From time to time drain water that accumulates in
the bottom out with the gunk (wax must be cool).
