The fact that every egg laid (pretty much) becomes a bee, but that it takes sperm to make a female is positively weird. And that a worker can lay eggs, although they are all drones, even though she's technically infertile It's not parthenogenesis, because that produces only female offspring. I still wonder what happened to my queen. I suspect that I must have knocked her off when I was inspecting the frames and, in my inexperience, didn't notice. Back to language, I could hear the queen chirping when she was still in the vent. I would go to the stove, and just say, "sweetheart, they are all out there in your new home just waiting for you." And eventually she went out to investigate and fell into the hive. Once she was there, not only did the sounds change, but the whole vibe changed. You could feel how happy everyone was.
