I have just done a 24 hour mite drop test on those of my hives with the right
sort of floors. Based on the results of the previous test some had been
treated with Bayvarol strips and some had not. Most of the results were
fairly innocuous but one had had a drop of 2 previously so I didn't treat it.
This has increased to 46. The interesting thing is that about 6 of these
fallen mites showed dimples or other disfigurements which I have not seen on
other mites over the last 8 years. I shall continue to monitor about once a
month throughout the winter and decide whether to treat when the weather
warms up again.
