Subject: Re: bees deciding on new home

Hi Barry and all

We have to be careful not to ascribe human values to the activities and
abilities of bees.

Basic logic, cause and effect, are all that is required. The activities and
methods used by bees have evolved over many millions of years to suit the
purpose of staying alive and pollinating plants.

The plundering of honey by man has only been going on for about a million
years, and actual husbandry of bees about 10,000 years.

Bees are successful, because they fit their purpose and the plants are
propagated as a result, giving yet more resources for the bees. Are we to
say then that the plants are "intelligent" to cause this?
