And that it should be replaced with sugar syrup? I'm wondering
what happened
to the summer honey they should have on the bees too! Shouldn't
the honey be
a mixture of both for winter?
Reply:
Yes, the honey to a certain extent should be a mixture of both
concerning
both pollens and honeys. By having both in a colony stored before
the
beekeeper gets his cut this would serve to give the bees a better
balanced
diet from a fuller spectum of floral sources for their nutritinal
needs.
As for replacing with sugar
syrup?? Fall honey is normally darker and
analsysis by our USDA over the years, has shown it to be higher
in vitamin
and mineral content then summer honey. Makes me wonder what is
wrong with
the bees instead? or maybe the management style of the beekeeper?
