Hi from me
I'm not going to help but to
confuse, by telling you I use square
langstroth bottom size, using 12 frame shallow boxes as only
box and frame
type. Can be used with or without excluder. Normally the bottom
box is
rotated up to be filled with honey and melted later on. Winter
on two
(corresponding to 12 Jumbo (Modified Dadant, 286 x 448 mm) frames)
or three boxes. The later to prefer for organic beekeeping as
the third box then
will be full of honey. One may see it as an disadvantage, but
the colonies
will be very large this way and in winter consume more food,
but will be
larger in spring, ready for early flow. One advantage for the
beekeeper is
that swarming is very, very low if boxes are given enough early.
Best regards
Erik
