Subject: clean wax for traditional/biological beekeeping

Hi all,

I have found the thread on clean organic wax quite interesting. However I'm not sure I desire to be labeled truely "organic". Don't get me wrong I want chemical free wax as much as possible like anyone else. My personal reasons for clean wax is for the health of my colonies as I keep them biologically, not to meet some standard which may or may not be obtained. Why is obtaining clean wax a problem? Don't we all have honey bees out in the field? I will state that "they" are the best source for clean wax, not wax imported from other countries! It should be very simple to get chemical free wax. Capture a swarm and place in empty hive body (no frames) and let the bees draw wild comb. When hive is full size, destroy and harvest just like a skep. The wax is as clean as it gets and should give an excellent base to start.

Regards

Clay
