Re: wiring frames with starter strips

Glad the wax bead idea works for you. One gentleman said that he wanted to
have wired foundation for brood comb, and I certainly know where he is
coming from. One wants that to last well. However, in my limited
experience I have found that unwired foundation that they create in this
fashion works extremely well. One just needs to be careful about turning
the frame on it's side, and with that caveat, I've never had a problem. But
then I'm not transporting the hives, either. If they were to be
transported, then I believe wired brood comb would be essential.

You got me on the honey squeezing, Lee. I've never harvested anywhere near
that amount of honey, and I just mash the comb in a big pot and strain it
through an old pair of pantyhose. (Guess a fella would want to wash 'em
first.) If you go to http://www.gsu.edu/~biojdsx/press.htm you will find an
interesting honey press the fella made out of some boards, a laundry bag,
and a car jack. Seems to me it might work well, and I will try one this
year.

I had also played with the idea of using a hand-cranked wringer, like they
used to use for laundry, and just run the comb through it. But they are
kinda spendy, and this carjack thingy looks pretty good, so I'll try that
first.
