You can if you want I would
suppose, but I just remove a frame either
directly adjacent or directly above a winter cluster that needs
feeding and
insert it in-place-of there.
I then take my hive tool or
a pencil a poke a hole or two to start the bees
feeding into through the perferation for direct feeding contact
with
granulated honey. Bees will feed on the packet just like a well
filled
capped frame of honey stores for overwintering and at same pace.
The nice thing about disposable
packets is they can be placed anywhere the
bees ae clustered. Also don't forget to mark the super the packet
is in, so
you can replace frame back when done feeding and the bees are
coming on
again.
