Subject: Re: Just what is Biological Beekeeping?

Hi Dee,

> Just what is biological beekeeping

Must look at the root word "biology" first.

Def.= The study of living things and the way they live and grow.

Next "biological".

Def.= 1.of or connected with biology; of plants and animals.
2. of the nature of living matter
3. used in or produced by practical biology.

> Just what is biological beekeeping and is there a difference from organic
> beekeeping?

I won't answer yet as I would like to hear what others have to say first.
I'm much in favour of biological beekeeping. Something about the word
ORGANIC that makes me leery. Ok, let's say a beekeeper has an apiary near a
paper plant. He keeps his bees without any chemicals , dopes, ect. Very
biological. Would his/her honey be organic due to environmental pollutants?
Is there anywhere on earth that has zero pollutants? How can we be sure? I
don't wish to lie to the consumer. The only part beekeepers have much
control over is what we put in our colonies. If the bees put it there its
part of nature and is the best we can do (hope for). Or am I wrong (please
correct me if so.).
