Subject: Russian bees
Hello all,
I don't use chemicals in my hives as a result I
lost all my Italian bees to the mites, and the long
cold winter. So this year I'm trying the "varroa
resistant" Russian bees until they come up with an
Italian or other breeds with good resistance to the
mites. They tell me you don't have to treat these bees
for mites. Is this true? Do they winter well? What's
their temperament? I heard the bee is smaller than the
Italian bee and the queen may lay drone if I use the
same comb is this true? I would appreciate any info on
these bees.
Thanks, Joe Waggle - Pennsylvania-USA
