Just a little note on this myself. In ancient times only religious mystics
kept bees as a general rule. L. L. Langstroth was a minister. And then there
is Bro. Adams with his Buckfast Bee.

The Greek legend is interesting. Lemon Balm is officially Melissa officianalis. And many old timers rubbed Lemon Balm on the inside of a hive body when hiving a new swarm.
