Clay and all Many times I have spoken about subfamily uniform sizing and you are regressed when the subfamilies are all uniformly small and you control your area or sphere of influence. It can be done, but it takes time and patience and working out from a center honey yard and then expanding in directions either circular or straight depending upon topography you are dealing with. So basicially both large and small caste subfamilies show mating variance and the more you narrow it and go from complex hybrids to simple hybrids this clears up. but it certainly takes time with modified outbreeding and this to me is the only way to hold it. Now saying that, few are in a position to even be able to do it, that is control terriroty of large scale, especially with other beekeepers around. So I guess we are lucky where we keep our bees.
