This may be more than you want to do but if its for a real research
kind of thing then you could request to be able to measure bees
collected and sent to the Smithsonian in the 1920s and before. Some
things they send to people for return and some things you have to go
there to look at. I don't know the criteria for who they let look at
their collections.
