Subject: Sugar crystals in honey and fondant
Imker,
One big difference between Fondant and Crystallized honey - is
the
crystal size.
In some cases a sugar crystal as found in honey will be to a
bee like
you gnawing on a hard brick sized lump!
The fondant has micro crystals, therefore will over a period
of time be
dealt with.
When fondant is found in a solid state in Queen cages - the time
taken
to liberate the queen is often too long and has negative consequences
on
queen condition/ acceptance.
What do others think?
(Relating to oversized bees!
- maybe they have bigger teeth, but they
bend, so spit out the crystals and only suck up the liquid!)
