I remember being a bee inspector
in the '70s and participating in the
provincial chalkbrood survey. I traveled (with my crew) around
the province
documenting the spread of CB. The belief at the time was that
it had been
imported from down under, since it had never been seen here before.
It is a bad disease and costs
us a lot of money annually. Some bees are
much more bothered by it than others. Some seem immune.
Strangely the most affected
are strains we have imported from Auz.
