Hi Dave
Just a few addendums to your observations
I do use top ventilation as well as top entry in addition to
the
bottom.. The insulating foam beneath the cover serves as dew
point
prevention., which of course is handy in any hive configuration.
I find the use of the IMIRIE frame not only useful to give shortcuts
to
the supers but also as top entry or generally for spacing anywhere
.
At this time I had no problem with spacing being propolised
any more
than anywhere else or building burr combs. I think these observation
do
not apply everywhere and are subject to the moods of the bees
one
tries to keep.
Happy beeing
Helmut.
