Hello
I am just about as wise as you are on this subject yellow bees.
Nobody
in this neighbor hood ever saw something like this bee. I explained
this
on another forum for bee stuff and someone came back with the
info
suggesting alleged Australian origin.
In any case , the swarm was not very big ( Perhaps 2 pounds)
and it is
also possible there was no queen because they absconded from
our members
place soon thereafter. When I had them in the car , they got
loose and
milled around
It took us a while to collect them whilst in the van . ( Vacuum
device)They were not aggressive at all and did not cluster as
usually
is the case, which gives me the notion that there was no queen.
As far as quarantine goes , There always a way to skin a cat.
( See
New Zealand and the Varroa incident or Vancouver island of recent
history for that matter, keeping civil servants busy justifying
their
existence.)
Happy beeing
